When

Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:45. We suggest you arrive about 15 minutes early to drop your kids off in their class room, grab a cup of coffee, find a seat, and chat.

Our meeting for corporate worship begins at 10:45. If you have children under three, we suggest showing up just a few minutes early to get them checked into the nursery. No need to check in the older ones, since we have children's church for kids three and over which begins after a time of corporate singing in the main service.

Where

Argonia Friends Church is located at 202 N. Pine Street, three blocks south of U.S. Highway 160 in Argonia, Kansas. Pine Street is easily recognizable from the highway. It runs between the high school building and the football field. From Main Street turn east at Vine Street which runs straight into the church parking lot. There are directional signs posted on both U.S. Highway 160 and Main Street.

What happens

We are blessed to be able to meet as one large group, instead of having to split into multiple worship services. Because of this we have a service that has some traditional and some modern elements.

We will have a time to welcome people and make announcements followed by a few Hymns. We then sing a few contemporary songs.

The biggest surprise for those who are unacquainted with the Friends Movement will be expectant worship. We have a brief period of silent reflection in which we allow God to speak directly to us as individuals. During this time if God moves a person to share with the rest of the meeting they are encouraged to stand up and speak to the meeting what God has given them. There is no set amount of time for this, but it ends when the person leading the service senses it is time to finish. It is usually a few minutes.

There will then be a time for reading and teaching from the scriptures. If you'd like, you can listen to a few messages before you come HERE.

Kids and Teens

Bring your kids along with you. We have a Sunday School class for them no matter what age they are. During the school year we have Children's Church during our worship service time and during the summer children are given activity pages, crayons, and clipboards to keep them occupied if they get bored. Junior High and High School students are encouraged to attend the service with their families, as it is a great place for them to hear an engaging message.

What to wear

While the norm is definitely somewhere around "business casual," the dress ranges anywhere from shorts and sandals to ties and jackets. We are more concerned with who you are on the inside than what you wear on the outside. Come however you need to worship and encounter God. If you have a bible, great; bring it. If you do not own a bible, that's ok too; we have pew bibles for you to use.
