Sister Churches
In 1996, Argonia
Friends Church developed a sister church relationship with a church in
Rwanda, Africa, by sending money to help construct the church's 40' x 69'
burned brick building. The church, Butaro Friends Church, sits on seven
acres of land in the Ruhengeri Prefecture (county) close to the Ugandan border in northern Rwanda.
There are seven churches which comprise the Butaro
Monthly Meeting. In 2002 and 2004, our pastor and his wife
were able to visit this church.
In the more recent past, Argonia Friends adopted three churches in Burundi, Africa. Our sister churches
there include Rukamba
Friends Church, Nyarunazi Friends
Church and
Musagara Friends Church.
Evangelical
Friends Mission
Argonia Friends gives
through EFC-MA to the ministry
of Evangelical
Friends Mission, the missions arm of the Evangelical
Friends Church-North America. Pastor
Mike Neifert serves on the EFM Board, traveling to meetings twice each
year.
The purpose and passion of
Evangelical Friends Mission is to lead our people worldwide to live so
close to Jesus Christ that we will worship, serve and obey God as faithful
witnesses.
We live and die for the cause of fulfilling the Great
Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment. We exist to fuel a
worldwide multiplication movement of worshipping, God-glorifying
Evangelical Friends Churches through evangelism, leadership development
and missionary-sending.

Friends Helping
Friends
When asked what the greatest
commandment was, Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with
all your heart..." and then he added, "And the
second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Friends Helping Friends is Argonia Friends Church's attempt to obey
this second greatest commandment. Through donations and grants we are able
to help the needy in our church and community. Friends Helping Friends
funds are administered by the committee of the same name.
Pool
Party and Picnic
On
the first weekend after school resumes, Argonia
Friends Church sponsors a carry-in
picnic and pool party. This annual event is held at Salter Park and the Argonia Swimming Pool.
The Fellowship Committee provides meat and drinks and church members
provide the rest. Many friends and neighbors join in the fun. A great
time is had by all who participate. Many times people from the
community join us.
