In 1996, Argonia
Friends Church developed a sister church relationship with a church in
Rwanda, Africa, by sending money to help construct the church's 40' x 69'
burned brick building. The church, Butaro Friends Church, sits on seven
acres of land in the Ruhengeri Prefecture (county) close to the Ugandan border in northern Rwanda.
There are seven churches which comprise the Butaro
Monthly Meeting.
Fabian (at left talking with
EFM
missionary, David Thomas), a graduate of the Great Lakes School of
Theology in Bujumbura, Burundi, is pastor
of this large and growing congregation. Butaro Friends has six daughter
churches on nearby hills.
Along with worship on Sunday mornings,
the members of Butaro Friends Church minister to the students and teachers
at the Friends secondary school (like high school) in Butaro.
The school has approximately 580 students (at right) and employs 16 teachers. Many of
the students are orphans of the 1994 genocide.

Argonia Friends gives
through EFC-MAYM to the ministry
of
Evangelical
Friends Mission, the missions arm of Evangelical
Friends International. Pastor
Mike Neifert serves on the EFM Board, traveling to meetings twice each
year.
The purpose and passion of
Evangelical Friends Mission is to lead our people worldwide to live so
close to Jesus Christ that we will worship, serve and obey God as faithful
witnesses. We live and die for the cause of fulfilling the Great
Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment. We exist to fuel a
worldwide multiplication movement of worshipping, God-glorifying
Evangelical Friends Churches through evangelism, leadership development
and missionary-sending.
