 John
Schlickau is the Deacon at Zion Lutheran. He graduated from
the Kansas District, LCMS, Lay Ministry-Deacon program in
2003. He provides word and sacrament ministry for the
congregation under the supervision of an ordained minister.
John is a lifelong member of Zion. He was the first person
baptized in the new church building in 1948. He received a
BS degree from Kansas State University and has farmed and
ranched in the Argonia area and served on many community and
charity boards. He is currently Vice-President of the Central
Plains Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
John and his wife, Jane, have been married for 34 years. Jane is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Southwestern
College. They have two grown children. Jessica Jensen and
her husband Chris live in Belle Plaine. Their son Gabe works for
Aquila and lives in Dodge City, Kansas.
