Community Center
The
Community Center in Argonia provides space for many social activities. The building is home to the Lion's Club's annual Santa Day and the Christmas
Tree Lighting Service. Wedding receptions and dances are held in the
spacious main room. Other community meetings and events, including Argonia's
blood drives, are held in the building. Don't miss the walk of names in
front of the building. Personalized engraved bricks honor individuals,
families and businesses who helped make the Community Center a reality.

Avenue of Flags
Argonia Cemetery - Memorial Day
Every Memorial Day, 141 flags
fly in the Argonia Cemetery. These flags are flown in memory of the many
Argonians who have served in the U.S. armed forces. The Avenue of Flags
is sponsored by the local VFW
and auxiliary.
Directions:
The Argonia Cemetery is just east of town
on U.S. 160.

Dixon Township Library
Argonia's Dixon Township Library offers a wide
variety of services to the public. Besides their excellent selection of
non-fiction and fiction books, the library offers year-round reading
programs and story time for children. Books not available in the library's
own collection can be procured through the Kansas state interlibrary loan
program. A public access computer with a high-speed internet connection is
available for online research and other needs.

Floyd Memorial Chapel
Argonia Cemetery
The Floyd Memorial Chapel, located on the west
edge of Argonia's cemetery, was dedicated in 2003. It provides space for families to grieve and for
small services. Public restrooms are available inside.
Directions:
The Argonia Cemetery is just east of town
on U.S. 160.

Holden Park & Wildlife Area
Holden Park & Wildlife Area is a private nature
preserve with plenty of space to enjoy bird watching, hiking or picnicking.
The park includes an observation tower and the famous "rock bottom" crossing
of the Chikaskia River. The Holdens love to host school or small group
tours. Holden
Park & Wildlife Area is open by reservation from April 1 through
November 1.

Directions:

south edge of town, turn west on 20th Street S. one mile. Turn north (road
curves) onto Blackstone Road, 1/2 mile.

Marty Harrison Field
When baseball season descends on Argonia, you can
hear the sounds and see the lights of Marty Harrison Field well into the
night. The field is home to all Argonia's little league games, high school
games and softball tournaments. Contact the

blocks. Turn east (left) on Garfield. After three blocks, just past
Salter Park & the swimming pool,
Garfield, runs into the Harrison Field's parking area. |

Memorial Walkway
The Memorial Walkway provides a safe p lace for
visitors and residents of Argonia to walk, bike or run in a beautiful
outdoor setting. At the south end of the walkway is Argonia's River Park
along the Chikaskia River. The River
Park provides RV hookups, tent camping sites, picnic grounds, a bathhouse
and fishing access on the river.

From
U.S. 160 turn south on Main Street
in Argonia. The walkway
begins at the city limits on the south edge of town and winds
through trees along Argonia Road to the River Park 1/2 mile south of town.

River Park
Argonia's
scenic river park overlooking Chikaskia River provides residents and
visitors with ample opportunities for fun and recreation. The park has picnic shelter houses,
deck, picnic tables, 1/2 mile walking trail (part of the
Memorial Walkway - see above) and public fishing access. The park can be
used by the public for camping. Tent camping is allowed. Fourteen RV hookups
with a dump site nearby can also
be reserved. There are handicapped-accessible restrooms with showers on the
camp grounds. The daily fees for camping are as follows:

Salter House Museum
Located
on the corner of Osage & Garfield in
Argonia, the Salter House
is open to the public by appointment. Contact

Salter Park
Salter Park provides a great place for children to
play and adults to relax. A picnic shelter and several benches dot the
grassy city block. A tennis court with basketball goals on the sides fills
the northeast corner of the park. A new slide added to the playground equipment at
Salter Park is an attraction much enjoyed by kids in the area. The slide
was made possible by funds from Parents of Argonia Raising Kids,
Kids Club,
Argonia Park Board and the
City of Argonia.

Swimming Pool
On the southeast corner of Salter Park is the city's swimming pool. Open
from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the pool, complete with dual
waterslides and a diving board provides a cool escape from the Kansas
summer heat. Periodic midnight swims provide an opportunity for
fellowship for young and old alike. The pool is home to the city's swim
team.
