Argonia Senior Center Board
The nine-member Argonia Senior Center Board was
organized to address the needs of the Senior citizens of our community. One
of the most important they found was transportation. Out of that need
"Provide-a-Ride" was formed. This program provides rides for those over 60
years of age. Volunteer drivers donate their time and vehicles to take our
Seniors as needed to doctor and medical appointments within a 75-mile
radius. A volunteer dispatcher takes the calls and does the scheduling and
appropriate paperwork. Different drivers take a certain day of the week. The
"Provide-a-Ride" program has been well received and the town has seen
excellent results.
Boy Scouts
Cub
Scouts meet twice each month at the
Friends Church in Argonia as a complete pack, breaking
into dens for part of the meeting. They also hold individual pack
meetings and participate in activities sponsored by the Quivira Council.
Cub scouting is for boys from first through fifth grades. The boys begin
as Tiger cubs in the first grade. In second grade they become Wolves.
Third graders are Bears. Fourth and fifth graders are Weblos.

The Law of the
Pack:
The cub scout follows his leaders
The cub scout helps the pack go
The pack helps the cub scout grow
The cub scout gives goodwill |

than have three or four small youth groups, the
churches of Argonia have joined together to form community youth groups.
Both groups meet on Wednesdays. The Junior High Youth meet at the Station,
17700 W. 10th Avenue (U.S. 160), from 6:30-7:30pm on Wednesdays. The Senior High Youth meet at the

Girl Scouts
In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun,
friendship, and power of girls together. The Girl Scout program includes a
myriad of enriching experiences, including field trips, sports
skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges,
and environmental stewardships.
Our unique experiences allow girls to grow
courageous and strong by helping them:
- Develop their full individual potential
- Relate to others with increasing
understanding, skill, and respect
- Develop values to guide their actions and
provide the foundation for sound decision making
- Contribute to the improvement of society
through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others
 The
Argonia Girl Scouts meet twice monthly and enjoy a variety of fun
activities at the Friends Church. Special age appropriate programs are offered to girls
kindergarten through seniors in high school. All interested girls are
welcome.
Guard Start
Eleven
to fourteen year olds serve as junior lifeguards at the Argonia
city pool
each year through the Red Cross' Guard Start program. The junior guards,
supervised by pool managers, help watch the pool and participate in many
other tasks as assigned. They work two hours each afternoon in groups of
four.
Historical Society
The Argonia and Western Sumner County Historical
Society was organized in 1961. It's main function is the stewardship of the
