Welcome to Argonia
Argonia,
Kansas is located near the scenic
 banks of the Chikaskia River along the
BNSF railroad in western
Sumner County.
Argonia features both historic sites and modern
facilities. U.S. 160 runs along the north side of the city and is connected to
downtown by K-210, one of the shortest state highways in Kansas.
The center of a prime agricultural area, Argonia offers a
community activity
center and a multipurpose city building,
housing, well-equipped EMS facilities and a volunteer
fire department. Located in
USD 359, Argonia offers a well-rounded curriculum
for preschool through high school students. Outreach classes from
Cowley
County Community College are also available. There are six
churches in the town.
 A township library offers a warehouse of knowledge
to young and old. Civic clubs actively
participate in the growth and prosperity of the community. The
city
government is of the mayor/council type.
Argonia boasts several thriving industries,
including industrial sites and an airport. Baseball and softball are very
popular at Marty Harrison Field. A summer recreation program is very active
with a swimming pool and poolhouse with concessions
in Salter Park.
